The Role
Depends which desk you get to sit with.
Again, depends on your desk but people are generally very nice and treat you as a colleague.
There was always someone to speak to if I needed any help/advice.
Workload on the desk was manageable (on average), but there were lots of events (networking and other) that were compulsory to attend and it was sometimes difficult to balance desk work with extra tasks which simply took too much time.
All the tasks I've been given were relevant to the business area I worked for (no admin work) and I usually worked on similar tasks as the full time employees.
Technical knowledge I gained will help me immensely with my studies next year and I also improved my soft skills.
The Company
Very relaxed, comfortable working environment.
The organisation had a few flaws - desk allocation schedule and event organisation was done on the very last minute, however, given the size of our intern class, the organisation was respectable.
We had a training session in the beginning and we were always welcome to go and chat to employees in other parts of the bank to learn about the firm/network.
Company Parties/Events
I think RBS is a great company to work for.
The Culture
We had lots of social events for interns so we had lots of opportunities to get to know each other.
London. On the other hand, RBS organised lots of networking events and drinks were provided.
London.
Lots of social events, but company sports/committees are for full-time employees.
