The Role
I felt as though it was generally a good and valuable experience but, equally, I didn't feel entirely valued and at times I didn't have much work at all.
It really depends on the team as to how valued you will be. I had two rotations - the first I didn't feel very valued but the second I did feel quite valued.
When I had any questions or required help it was provided but it did really depend on the team and individual. Some are of course more willing than others to help and support interns.
Unfortunately I didn't feel I was that busy - at least with work given. Because it was a summer internship this can be the case as people leave to go on holiday. It can be frustrating at times but I think you have to realise that it can be the case for most other internships.
I was given some responsibility but overall I wouldn't say I had much. A lot of the work given was either research that wasn't entirely important or liaising with other desks on projects.
Not finished the internship yet so can't comment too much but I believe some technical skills learned could come in handy (Excel/Powerpoint). Also just in general researching skills and "soft" skills.
The Company
This is very team dependant, not really the organisation as a whole. Personally I wasn't on desks that were very "fun".
I felt as though the rotation was generally well structured but specifically, whilst on my desk, it felt very disorganised. At many periods of time I lacked work and even offering to help/asking for more didn't really alleviate this.
I think a lot more could have been done in terms of informational sessions.
I'm not sure as I'm just finishing off the internship.
The Culture
It was in London so there were a lot of places to visit and socialise.
The cost of living in London is of course rather high but the pay for the internship more than covered it.
London has a great nightlife.
There were some sport activities in which interns could get involved in.
