The Role
I have very much enjoyed it.
I have felt very valued on my 2nd desk, but not so much on my 1st desk.
A certain amount of independence and intuition is needed, but both my managers have been willing to help when I've asked them.
To an extent it's up to you to make sure that you're kept busy, so as long as you're proactive and get around the business then you'll be kept busy.
There's very little responsibility that you can really take on for a banking internship in markets.
None of the technical skills will particularly help me in my degree because it's an unrelated subject, but I'm sure the soft skills will and if I do go into banking then the technical skills will obviously be relevant.
The Company
The atmosphere has been very vibrant, social and friendly.
There could have been more information in the run-up to the internship, but since being here I'd say everything has been run very well.
I have been very impressed by the number of training events put on by the organisation for us.
Company Parties/Events
It's difficult to know what the conversion rate is between completing the internship and getting a job, but I reckon that if you work hard and do well then you've got a good chance.
The Culture
There have been lots of events organised where we could socialise with each other e.g. bowling, urban golf, a sports day.
It's fairly expensive, being in central London, but not outrageous!
The nightlife can be great, although a lot of the interns didn't seem keen to go out too much!
You could probably do something once a week with colleagues if you wanted to.
