The Role
Challenging at times, the job of an analyst can be very varied depending on who you shadow ask for work from, making it very exciting and fast paced.
I felt very valued even when doing the trivial admin tasks, and everyone appreciated that this freed up more time for them. In return colleagues were very happy to sit down and explain complicated concepts at length
In early stages, there is a lot of guidance and direction however as the internship progresses there is more independence. At times when working on a project, more direction is required at later stages but then the onus is on you to seek out help if required
Some days were very busy as work comes on an adhoc basis which means other times are less busy , however this provides the perfect opportunity to shadow other departments
I was given a lot of responsibility, as much as I wanted to take on really.
In terms of skills, excel and using bloomberg to analyse data were the greatest technical skills developed. Additionally, I developed greater attention to detail and communication skills
The Company
The environment was very relaxed and friendly, though in busier times, it becomes more a case of finding some interesting work yourself or reading up on current affairs, to come up with strategies for the trading games.
Very well organised in terms of extra activities, speaker series and trading games to provide exposure to different parts of the business.
Invested a lot in terms of getting exposure to different business areas. Perhaps not as much in terms of formal training.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Would be thrilled with a job!
The Culture
Regular socials at a variety of venues as well as HR organised events such as charity bike builds so there's something for everyone
Fairly expensive but often subsidised by the firm or department sponsoring
Nightlife in London is great and varied, however it can always be a bit of a trek getting home
Sports clubs and activities at the firm, and plenty of time for sports/ hobbies on the weekends.
