The Role
Such a brilliant working atmosphere, great set of people to work with, All the support I would ever need. Such a great place to work and great people to work and socialise with!
My immediate colleagues were instantly welcoming, making me feel part of the team within the first week or so. I was able to do pretty much anything I put my mind to with their help and support.
Great support with all of my work, be it university work or work for the company. Frequently organised meetings, and the open office environment really helped me develop a great relationship with my manager.
It varied. At the start of the placement during the end of the year 2012, a lot of work was being tied up for the following week, so at points there was little to do, however towards the end it definitely picked up! - The balance between university work and work for the company was a key learning for me this year.
I was the study leader for my project so was in charge of coordinating how the study would be planned and carried out, with assistance from my line manager. It would have been nice to have had a bit more control over such a big piece of work, however I understood the decisions made.
So much experience gained througout this year, going on various training courses on and off site, the general environment has given me so much to look at and consider for my future, and has given me such a great set of skills that have been improved, to work on this future.
The Company
Some great times in the office with my colleagues, so many laughs and experiences shared! Really nice enviroment as an open plan office!
Great opportunities, some minor points like planning projects etc could have been a bit better, but things are in a constant state of change, and the change is good!
I had the chance to go on many training courses for parts of my job, which really helped! Also external training courses for the work I was doing. So much time devoted to making sure I got the most out of it!

I would definitely consider a place within BAT, and after having meetings with several of the senior management, the impression I have left has been noticeable and good.
The Culture
As students we had some great times in the city with and without our colleagues, it was great when we had occasions with our colleagues as we could socialise out of work with them and get to know them on other levels. There was always something to do!
Rent for our house was fair, with good supermarkets nearby and a walk to work. Socialising was good too, depending on the place we went to it varied! We tended to go out less and save up more for those occasions so we could go somewhere nicer!
Definitely some great spots in southampton! - Some bad ones too, but after finding some good spots we had some great times!
Plenty of people were always advertising events in the area or things to do, plus BAT organise some great things to do such as the christmas quiz and the summer party!
