The Role
I really enjoyed my year here. I was able to learn many new skills and gain an insight into industrial research.
Immediately i started to work here, i felt like a valued member of the team.
Everyone is easily approachable managers and collagues. Each student has a mentor also so there is support from different departments.
During the year there was a good balance between labs and office based work. Always something for you to do.
I had my own project to do where i was responsible for setting up the work and reporting the findings
Everything that i've learnt here will help me a great deal. new skills, technical and others such as presenting will hopefully hold me in good stead
The Company
The office and labs were a really friendly and relaxed place to work.
Very organised, were my projects were set up prior to my arrival.
The projects i was working on were vital to my team. Internally i was able to attend different training courses but not external ones.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym

Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
It was good to work in industry for a year and i really enjoyed it, however i would like to gain some experience in the NHS also. But if i was offered a job in future, it would be hard to refuse.
The Culture
With other placement students also we had a good social life. BAT hold many social events throughout the year so there is plenty to do outside daily work
Accomadation is fairly cheap and the surrounding area isnt expensive.
Plenty of places to go and enjoy.
I was able to play in the BAT 5 aside football league and also a Semi-pro team outside of BAT. The Gym on site is open before and after work, with different exercise classes also.
