The Role
RBS is a great bank to work for, good culture and friendly people, my particular desk wasn't very intresting and I often found that there was a big lack of work given to me.
Senior management are easily approachable, everyone is willing to help, you feel very welcome
Had one to one meeting every week with my line manager, good opportunity to grow my knowledge and progress.
I never had one day where I could say I was "busy". I found myself spending most of my time reading news and researching areas of finance I wanted to go into. I didn't have any BAU (Business as usual) on my desk so thats probably why. Was given an independent project to do but it was always hindered on waiting for responses.
My project wasn't a makeshift one, it was for real.
I did learn a lot even though I didn't have much work. Presentation skills, report writing, email ettiquette are some of them.
The Company
People are friendly, but I sat on my own as my desk didn't have a proper team.
very well structured, lots of opportunities and social activity.
They gave lots of reading material and help.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Left this on 5, as I don;t know if I have got the job with them or not. I would love to work for RBS, perhaps in a different division perhaps.
The Culture
There would be, but I was placed in Newcastle under Lyme as one of 2 interns, and the other was commuting from Manchester, so no I'd say not for me.
Newcastle under Lyme is probably one of the cheapest places in the UK...not such a good thing though...
Avoid unless you have a death wish.
CSR day, sports day, internship dinner, just to name a few.
