The Role
I really enjoyed this placement and it gave me a great insight into the industry which i have always wanted to work in. The people were great and Edinburgh was a fantastic city to work in.
I was given a lot of responsibilities for the start of the placement right to the end. Everyone i worked with were really helpful and didn't mind spending time with me when i needed extra help
For the first week or so i was reading a lot and getting to know the in's and out's of the job. After that i was given a lot to do but there were only a few days where i was struggling for time.
By the middle of my placement I was doing the same jobs as the graduate from last year was doing!!!
I am studying accounts and finance so this has helped my for my final year studies. The placement also gave me an idea and understanding for my dissertation. I have accepted a job with Mercer starting in september therefore the training i received will help me greatly when i start as a real graduate trainee.
The Company
Most people got on really well but everyone was there to do a job!
Very organised from the induction in week 1 to the end day in London
I was given enough training for the jobs i was doing
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
very appealing. i have accepted graduate job with mercer starting in September
The Culture
i was the only placement student in the Edinburgh investment consultant branch
Cost of living and socialising is expensive in Edinburgh. The salary did cover the expense though
Really good - lovely bars and pubs. Some good nightclubs too
Not really
