The Role
The team I worked in were always there to help me and a lot of the projects I got involved in were enjoyable. However, the BAU side of work was much more repetitive and sometimes a tad boring.
The sense of belonging was huge within my team. From day one, they involved me with any work they had on, and before I knew it, I was given responsibility to manage my own projects. Outside of the work they also made me welcome with any social activity, which is always good for team bonding!
My managers were fantastic, they always gave me clear objectives and aims and were extremely approachable. It was clear however, they were not there to hand your hand through the internship so being proactive was key.
For the most part, the balance was good, some days (between projects) and when the BAU was quiet there was sometimes very little to do.
Responsibility came with proving yourself and delivering. At the start I was given fairly easy tasks, but by completing these and doing more than what was asked to a high standard, opened doors to more people giving you more work and responsibility
As well as the technical knowledge gained, softer skills such as team work and communication are essential for success during the internship and so the development of these is definitely something I can take forward into the future
The Company
There was definitely opportunity to have a good laugh with the team in the office as long as work got done to the high standards which they expect.
Some aspects were very well organised, such as our desk placements and lunch time learning sessions. However sometimes, aspects seemed to be less so and we were occasionally left clueless and in the dark.
The company and the people within it are more than happy to invest time to speak to you, teach you or mentor you in your development and will ALWAYS find time for you!

There seems to be a lot of opportunity to move upwards within the business if you are ready to do so
The Culture
Nice group of interns, all of us got on really well. Went for lunch and went for drinks with them on a regular basis
Its no student night but then its not London either. The prices in Manchester were reasonable
Manchester has a great nightlife and would recommend to all.
My team made me feel welcome from day one, inviting me to all the socials they went on so it was easy enough for me to get involved
