The Role
I wasn't given enough work to do, and when I was given work it was very repetitive.
I think my abilities were under-appreciated although they were very nice to me.
I was given support in learning, but not given support when I asked for more work.
Some days I felt like I didn't achieve anything of value.
I was given responsibility for a project which was to be shown to a senior manager, however I had so many hawks hanging over my shoulders that I couldn't really get on and do it.
Discovered quite a lot of the skills will assist me in one of my modules this year, which is nice.
The Company
No one ever did anything, there were samosas all the time but everyone just took them back to their desks rather than chatting with the people who had bought them.
Overall at high level it was quite well organised but that didn't filter down to the people who were looking after me on a daily basis, they didn't know what to do with me and hadn't been given any guidance.
They invested quite a lot of their employees time in training me but I wasn't sent on any formal internal courses unlike a lot of the new starters around me.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
I haven't made up my mind but it looks like it wouldn't be hard for me to get a job if I decide I want one.
The Culture
I think it would have been great if I had been living in the same place as everyone else, but that wasn't made clear before hand, so I lived somewhere else so didn't get to see the other placement students at all.
Cost of living is ok, I was in cheap accommodation etc but I didn't go out that much - something about having to be at work at 7.30am made going out the night before unappealing.
It was good for pubs which I like - I didn't try going out clubbing
I found ways of doing most of the things I wanted, although I couldn't find a women's football team.
