The Role
Overall I could not have asked for a better experience. Really enjoyed the company and the people. The program as well as is really well structured.
The work culture at American Express really stood out for me. You really do feel a sense of belonging even though I was there for 10 weeks.
The level of support and guidance is immense. People are always willing to help and give advice. Even though you do have work on implementing the projects by yourself, you are challanged but at the same given any support you need form the line managers and directors.
It was almost a perfect balance. On some days there were really busy calenders with meetings and project work. But there was enough time left for you to network and build on relationships within the organization.
This is one aspect that really stood out for me. The level of responsibility for me grew as I got more and more involved with the projects. By the end of the 10 weeks I had worked on several different key improvement projects for the business that had significant impacts. This really helped me gain hands on experience in some of the key operations and corporate expsoure at American Express.
The skillset I have developed has grown immensely. My projects were involved in many different areas of the business that developed a different variety of skills. Presentation, excel and analytical skills were just a few of the skills acquired apart from a sound understanding of the card industry and relationship care principles.
The Company
The work culture at American Express really stands out. It creates the perfect blend of work and fun. The people are really nice and very easy to get along with.
It was a really well structured program. From our assigned projects and goals to our weekly intern events, it was overall an really well scheduled program. It gave us the opportunity to gain first hand experience in financial services as well as meet new people and network.
American Express values graduate talent immensely. All the managers and directors are willing to provide the resources needed for a successful internship as well as training to achieve different skillsets. I felt really valued and this internship has helped develop on a personal and professional level.

My impression is that interns are really valued in the organization and are pushed for graduate roles. I would say there is a lot of support for future employment prospects.
The Culture
The social scene was really good. As the number if interns is relatively small, we got along really well from the very beginning. The weekly intern events were really well planned out to help us to get to know each other better.
Brighton/London: Both places are quite expensive however Brighton is not too bad.
Brighton is a really happening city with a lot of amusements and places to socialise. Has a really good vibe. And London is only an hour away.
Not too many however we did get an opportunity to go out on a community day and help out with a charity for the homeless.
