The Role
It was really interesting with plenty of variety. There was enough of a challenge for it to be interesting without feeling that you couldn't cope.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Any questions I had were answered fully.
I was given plenty of guidance and if I didn't understand something my coaches were happy to take time to explain again. They always made sure I understood my tasks so I could complete the work to a high quality.
I had enough work to get a good understanding of the job however at many points there was not much I could help with. In these situations I spent time on the Summer Intern Project or training so I wasn't sitting doing nothing.
I was not given huge amounts of responsibility as I was assisting others. I did get to speak with clients though, this was a good experience
I developed my Excel skills and this will be very useful going forward. The Intern project also developed skills in teamwork, time keeping and presentation which are key skills to have.
The Company
I didn't spend much time in the office as I was out at clients but all the people I worked with were fun and friendly. When I was in the office I got a real community feel which is really nice.
Very well. The first few days were so much fun, meeting all the other interns on a residential trip. The timetables were already set up in advance so I knew exactly what I would be doing and when. The managers I was working with always gave me relevant information ahead of starting the job.
The first week of training was very useful as well as fun. It was also useful to have another regional development day half way through, with a workshop on networking and other useful sessions. The Summer intern project was also great for personal development.
Company Parties/Events
Almost everyone from the internship programme gets an offer. You are not competing against anyone else it is purely down to your own performance.
The Culture
When we were together for training days there was a good social scene. Being at a regional office we didn't really meet up for socials with other interns during the programme.
Reasonable. As I was out at clients a lot I didn't really socialise much near the office.
We had a summer ball and there were a couple of leaving drinks but there wasn't really much night life.
The summer intern project was a good opportunity, the Summer ball was also good fun. There weren't many opportunities during the internship but it sounds like the full time employees do have opportunities. There was lots of talk about an office football team and golf days
