The Role
In the space of 10 weeks the amount that I learnt was incredible. The job was extremely varied, with exposure to all of the different industry teams and a mixture of both banking and credit risk related projects. We got to know all of the interns during training week which helped us to organise socials for the weekends, and there were also a good number of events organised by HR.
I focussed mainly on one project so felt I made a real contribution which my other team members appreciated. Everyone was prepared to explain things to me and ensured that I understood the task and was learning.
There were fortnightly checks with our supervisors and 2 reviews over the internship. Our manager was always happy to help if we had any queries or issues too.
Busy but not staffed more than our capacity. Managing workload was a challenge which tested my organisation skills!
Always given independent tasks that I felt were used and valued by my team or supervisor.
Developed excellent knowledge of corporate finance, financial analysis, excel modelling skills, organisation skills, networking...the list goes on. I can apply the technical knowledge to my degree and what I learnt about working in a global bank to my career.
The Company
Up and down - at busy periods the atmosphere is obviously intense, but most of the office manages to keep perspective and maintain a balance.
HR were great and there weren't any major issues before or during the internship.
Felt like colleagues really paid attention to our development and how we were progressing - always happy to sit down and explain things to us and ensure we understood the task and the context.

Exposure to seniors and the Speaker Series ensured that we were aware of future opportunities and paths within Citi. Future prospects are very appealing and it seems a lot is invested in the interns with the hope they will secure the majority of full time positions available.
The Culture
We met up every weekend, made some great friends.
Very expensive but the pay is also good which helps. Biggest problem was moving to London and paying rent before we were paid.
London nightlife is amazing - there is every sort of club you can imagine. And the bars in Canary Wharf have a great atmosphere especially on Friday nights!
There were socials organised by HR and obviously tons to do in London at the weekends but since the hours are so long it is dificult to do any activities during the week outside of work.
