The Role
It was good fun, and an enjoyable insight into civil engineering. It would have been more enjoyable if it was site based rather than in the office.
All work I did was used and valued.
I could ask anyone for help and they would be there to answer my questions.
Due to it being near the end of the ECI phase, there wasn't as much to do as maybe if the project was on site, however I was still kept busy with work.
Looking forward to a site based placement where tasks I'm given will affect the permanent works.
I have a module on highways engineering at university this year, so my experience with traffic management should help quite a bit.
The Company
Lots of people, all desks were full.
Placement was far from my home, but accommodation expenses were paid.
Hopefully put on the graduate scheme after the placement and given a sponsorship at university.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Seems like a very good company to work for for graduate engineers.
The Culture
Went on a couple of social events paid for by the company.
Preston, very cheap.
Didn't go out in the evenings much, except to the pub.
I helped organise 5-a-side football, everyone was up for socialising outside of work.
