The Role
I was fortunate to work in what can probably be the nicest team in the division
The people were extremely friendly and helpful and were willing to assist me whenever I need help
They were really considerate and were constantly asking for my projects, presentations etc
I was given work whenever I did not have anything to do and my team did not mind me refusing additional work when I had an urgent deadline
I was given decent responsibility but in general I would have an analyst checking my work every now and then
While skills such as attention to details are applicable, sector specific knowledge is not related to my degree at all and the theories on finance I learned at school are different from ones used in the workplace
The Company
The people were generally friendly and the team was relatively social
While the work on the desk was set up well, there were some admin issues such as payroll that were not explained clearly
We had weekly trainings and talks
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The organisation seemed to be hiring decent number of people every year
The Culture
As mentioned, I was placed in a really nice and friendly team so we had decent social events
As expected from Canary Wharf, drinks etc are not really cheap
The only nightlife in the area is when people have to deadline to meet the next day
As expected from the job, I needed to put in a lot of hours
