The Role
I had the best summer ever at Goldman Sachs. My team were fantastic as were all of the other people in the company. I had the opportunity to meet many very clever people who were very inspiring. I had a great intern class and made many friends with whom i will keep in touch with going forward. It was the best decision I have ever made to apply to GS and accept an offer from them for an internship.
My colleagues always included me in team events and team meetings. They also gave me feedback on my work on how my work was assisting the team. After 10 weeks i felt like i had worked with them for years!
I had lots of reviews with areas for development. My buddy and my mentor were always happy to sit and talk to me about ways that I could act upon the feedback and other members of my team would also do so.
I was well occupied during my working hours. I had enough work to fill my time at a pace where i could understand and learn lots. And I also had time to interact with people at the company as well.
I was assigned my own project which i was fully responsible for (with plenty of support from my team). i chose my own hours and managed my own time.
I had a fantastic time. Learnt many valuable life skills as well as technical skills that i can use in my future career.
The Company
The office was friendly and comfortable. There was always someone around, and plenty of people to interact with.
GS put on lots of events (social and training). The events were always well publicised and we were heavily encouraged by our managers to attend the events. We were always provided with plenty of information on the internship.
I had lots of training opportunities - events were set up by the firm, i could sign up to training courses and mentors and my team members would also spend time with me to help me develop. I attended courses on personal resiliency and my team and mentor discussed ways to handle people and manage tasks etc.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I would happily accept a job offer from GS, I have easily had a fantastic time and learnt lots which is very valuable to me.
The Culture
All of the intern class would go out most nights doing various activities. The firm also organised events for us. We also always used have coffee breaks and lunch together.
If you were careful about where you went you could do it cheaply.
It was great. We used to go out every Friday as an intern class.
There were plenty of opportunities. The firm departments organised activities to attend and the intern class used to organise them as well. e.g. i attended a 'school sports day' evening organised by an internal team after work one night.
