The Role
Enjoyable but will be nice to have a rest!
Most colleagues gave time to my thoughts and opinions, despite me having limited expertise and experienee.
Had a meeting every day if possible to discuss progress on projects. Wasn't spoonfed but wasn't left in the dark.
Often found myself trying to make my own work, but this is the nature of the summer as many people are away on holiday so work is slow
Was given plenty of responsibility but on things that weren't critical
Developed some very good skills and learnt a lot about day to day working life, and how large business are organised and run.
The Company
Good working atmosphere, some lively characters and nice and relaxed but everyone knows how much work has to be done
Issues with IT for the first week but overall things ran quite smoothly
We had 2 induction days, plus a 2 hour engine familiarisation course. There were also some compulsory online training courses about export control.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Have been recommended to come back for the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Most interns lived together in University accommodation so there was plenty of socialising.
Quite expensive in Derby compared to where I study in Durham, and the halls were not cheap for what they are.
Average.
Only here for 10 weeks and spent a few weekends visiting friends/family so apart from cricket after work I didn't get involved in much else.
