The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, I felt an included member but just sometimes found I was not the busiest.
For the first few weeks my mentor always made me feel welcome and a part of the team and after that people continued to talk to me, but it was sometimes hard to talk to others as they were busy.
I was for the majority of the time given guidance and support but there were occasions when I was struggling to find things to do
I was busy for most of the time but there were a few times when I was left to my devices but this was rare. Also sometimes I felt the work was not important towards projects but it was still helpful.
I wasn't given too much responsibility but I did help other new placement students.
The placement was just really useful to consolidate my skills I learnt during my first year and also to learn other software programmes useful for civil engineering
The Company
Because of the busyness of people's work I sometimes felt it was a little more dull than fun and there wasn't a massive emphasis of interaction
The placement was extremely well set for me and everything was ready but this was not always true for some other interns.
Various people looked to help me learn new pieces of software which was really helpful.
I think the way this company is set up is perfect for future employment prospects with continuing opportunities for graduates to find jobs
The Culture
There were a few events organised but I felt other people could have done more to organise social scenes.
The socialising was more expensive but the locations were nicer and it was still very enjoyable.
N/A
I think there were different activities available but it wasn't well advertised or offered up so I didn't manage to get involved with these.
