The Role
It was valuable because I learnt a lot about the culture at Willis.
Warmed up towards the end but mostly I felt like I was a bit inconvenient in the first couple of weeks. Except for my manager, who was brilliant.
No struggle to finish work given to me. Partly due to the time of year but I felt that I was waffling my days away trying to look busy.
We were working on some valuable projects.
New level of Excel.
The Company
Not a lot of conversation but it was conducive to a good working environment.
Pretty good for a first-time. Thought the seminars were useful. Felt more group activities would have been a bonus.
I know a lot more about insurance and re-insurance than I did before and I really value the commercial awareness it will afford me in the future.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The Culture
There was one night out at the end of the placement however I felt that the budget might have been better divided into 2 for a welcome drinks as well just to introduce us to the teams on a more social level.
City of London... £6 for a glass of wine.
Not a clue.
Beyond a couple of drinks, nothing. This may not be true of longer-term employment
