    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was enjoyable when there was plenty of work to get on with which meant there was greater opportunity to learn. My team was fairly quiet during the period of my internship which meant there were times where I did not have much work to do.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt more valued as time went on and as I produced good quality work for my colleagues. It's a meritocracy at the end of the day

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Most of the time, I was set work and left to get on with it, which is good in the sense that I was able to use my own initiative to learn

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was fairly quiet throughout the duration of my internship given the slow down in the business due to the summer period

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You earn more responsibility as you show your team what you are capable of. There is generally limited responsibility given my role of a summer intern

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The presentation, excel and time management skills and technical knowledge I gained will definitely support and aid me in my future career

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly, collaborative environment

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Internship was organised very well, however, two rotations would be helpful to gain more exposure to the business line

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Interns in my area were not provided with Bloomberg access which meant there was a considerable amount of work I could not contribute to. It would be a good investment to provide all Markets interns with Bloomberg so they could use this to aid colleagues in their work

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am yet to find out but hear it is considerably competitive to gain a graduate offer

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Difficult to organise meet ups

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive for accommodation and lunch is also quite expensive but this is expected in London

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Average

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there was a CSR event organised by Grad Recruitment

    4/5
