The Role
The internship was a really good experience from both a work point of view as well as from a social one. I was given actual work that contributed directly to my team's performance as well as being able to work with other interns on fundraising events of our own choosing.
They made me feel like a member of the team from day one and really valued my contributions.
I was able to arrange 1:1 meetings with my manager whenever I needed help on a project or just for a quick catch-up. It certainly helped that my manager was very approachable.
It varied a lot from day-to-day but for the most part I always had something to be getting on with. There were times when I had a lot of projects on the go at once but it was good experience of time management so not necessarily a negative aspect of the internship.
I was soley responsible for two projects with my recommendations being taken on board by senior managers, which is a very rewarding experience.
The skills I have developed will undoubtedly be useful for the rest of my time at university but also for work after. I was able to discuss with my manager particular skills that I wished to develop and she helped make sure I had the opportunity to practise them.
The Company
My team were all very friendly and it felt very relaxed working on a daily basis.
From start to finish there were no major issues with the internship. The two induction days at the start were a good way to meet other interns so that on day one of wokring in the office was not a massive shock.
They provided the interns with a CV and Interview training day which was very useful. This also provided me with the chance to discuss on a 1:1 basis my CV with an HR advisor.

The Culture
There were always drinks going on after work on a Friday with nights out also organsied by the interns. We also ate most lunches together.
Being located in London meant everything was unsurprisingly expensive. However, CRUK covered my travel and lunch costs.
As the charity organises so many fundraising events there were so many opportunities outside of work.
