The Role
As any job it was a struggle to get a better understanding of how to do the role and function efficiently but once I got to grips with the role and what it entails it was a very enjoyable job.
I joined a small team and straight away felt welcome in the group.
There was always somebody in my office or in another office who I could approach if I needed any assistance.
This is a job where you can never say you are bored as there is always something else you can do to further your business.
I was running one of the busiest and potentially most profitable desks in my office and treated like a normal member of staff rather than a placement student, with the responsibility reflective of this.
The level of work that you do in this role will set me up for a tough final year, and get me in to the way of 'just doing something straight away'. This will be a vital asset when completing my degree.
The Company
Fantastic atmosphere with really friendly people.
I faced a few issues on HR and IT issues, but these were resolved and from then on in it was a very smooth process.
You have a 12 week training programme in which you are also sent (expenses paid) to travel in one of the larger offices.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
Healthcare/Dental
When it comes to the point of securing further employment with Hays I know the targets I need to achieve to actually secure employment.
The Culture
No Fellow placement students but a good scene with normal colleagues. We have been on nights out and for different meals.
I lived in Leeds and commuted to Wakefield and a travel pass was less than £80 per week with local shops near the offices where you can get cheap lunch.
Leeds has a fantastic night life and that is where I was studying and living during my placement.
Outside of socialising there was not much but with the job as high pressure as it is, just relaxing is pretty nice.
