The Role
The transition from uni to full-time work was really difficult. Days are long and I found myself very bored a lot of the time so it was a bit of a struggle.
I got on with my colleagues very well and I loved my team. I was happy to help them out with extra work they had and they appreciated my help.
My manager is really good and always happy to help me when i ask despite the fact she was sometimes very busy. My team were also happy to help with any questions I have.
At the moment i am very bored and i find i dont have many jobs or responsibilites. i hope as the year progresses i will be given more jobs and more things to do to fill my days because at the moment i am never very busy at all.
I have not been given much responsibility at all and the majority of jobs i am doing seem very under value. However I am very aware i have only been doing this job for just under 2 months so i cannot expect to be given a huge amount of responsinility yet so i hope as the year progresses i will be given more responsibilities and more valued jobs.
A placement year was always going to develop me as a person as well as my skill set. I now have knowledge of working life and recruitment. Hays has provided me with extensive training which i am sure will be useful in later life. i am developing new skills and building on old ones everyday.
The Company
My office is always lively and fun. My colleagues are a lot of fun and very friendly and energetic.
Organisation was good. i was put into a team and had a manager that looked after me and i reported to. In week 4 i was given my job role and targets.
The training at Hays is extensive. We had classroom training sessions nearly everyday for the first 4 weeks and then about 3 times a week untill week 8. Week 8 we had a training week which was an intense training course located away from the office.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
My manager was originally a placement student and was given a job after she finished her degree. I would love to be given the chance to work at Hays after my placement year.
The Culture
I made friends with other new starters straight away and the rest of my colleagues are a similar age so have made friends with them too. The social scene is great and we have been out in London a couple of times already.
London is a really expensive place to live. Luckily i live close enough to London to live at home for my placement year, despite travel being expensive. Socialising is also very expensive as drinks and entry and travelling costs a lot - especially compared to uni!
London nightlife is amazing. There is always so much going on and a lot to do. There is such a variety of bars and clubs that suit everyone.
Hays offers some sports teams and some charity events such as fun runs.
