The Role
Obviously not every task was interesting but on the whole had an entertaining year in a relaxed office environment.
Treated as a graduate rather than an intern, and good efforts were made to include me in projects and events.
Had regular catchups with my appraisor to see how I was getting on, and encouraged to request feedback after major projects and tasks. Colleagues always happy to help if I needed it.
Sometimes when many in the office were away at client sites or on holiday there was little work I could assist with, but I was generally kept busy and I was never given an unreasonable workload.
Was able to help out with important tasks and was trusted to get on with smaller ones, but work I produced that would be seen by a client was always reviewed by a manager before being issued.
This year has given me the opportunity to develop communication and IT skills, has improved my discipline and work ethic, has provided a valuable insight into industry and the world of work, and provided fantastic experience that will help me in future employment.
The Company
Although everyone was hard-working the environment was relaxed and light hearted.
Ties in nicely with the university academic year and Deloitte's graduate scheme. The company ensures you are well prepared before you join.
As a placement student I didn't attend college to begin my accountancy exams, but the company was always willing to pay for me to attend relevant courses, and offered me a job (conditional on my degree) at the end of it.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Offered a job conditional on my degree.
The Culture
Opportunities to attend networking events, office nights out and nights out with graduates from other departments.
Varied - office was right in the city centre so easy to go to student bars or slightly more expensive places.
Office in Leeds city centre so lots of bars and clubs close by.
Opportunities to volunteer, network, get involved in office sports teams and many others were available.
