The Role
It was actually really enjoyable, there weren't any days where I was waiting for the day to finish.
The people I worked with were absolutely splendid, and were a joy to be around. They treated me with respect even though a lot of them were vastly more experienced than I am in the industry.
My manager was very supportive, and was always free to answer any queries that I had.
There were some days where there wasn't much to do, and it was necessary to go around asking if there was any work to be done, but on other days the day was full to the brim with tasks that needed to be done, especially when I was working on long term projects which required daily reconciling as well as more rigorous analysis work.
Quite a lot, especially in regards to Projects and implementing changes in regulation, quite a lot of stuff was put on my shoulder and rather a lot of faith was placed in my abilities.
It will help tremendously, especially with certain modules that I am doing during my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was pleasant.
This was the only thing I initially thought was odd, the lack of apparent structure or guidance in how the internship would pan out, but this quickly became a non issue as my manager was very helpful in guiding me through what would be done during my period there.
We had one intern away day where we got to meet up with all the other interns, but everything else was on the job training.
Subsidised/Company Gym
The company is constantly looking to grow and employment opportunities seem to present.
The Culture
There were regular get togethers with other interns, we would often go out for drinks etc.
I lived a sizeable distance from my office (around a 1 hour tube journey), so it wasn't particularly expensive.
In the centre of London, it's always going to be good.
Not any that were particularly offered to us.
