The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Hays, I was given proper responsibility and a great insight into the business world and how a business operates.
From day 1 I was made to feel part of the team, was included in any social events outside of work and was given constant support during work.
I was given one to one support and guidance when I started my placement year until I was confident doing the job on my own.
Most days are very busy at Hays as there aren't many quiet periods.
I was given full responsibility to run a non qualified, temporary desk to cover a permanent colleague's maternity leave.
The skills I have developed at Hays will assist me in writing my dissertation, understanding my final year more than if I hadn't done a placement and also help me in areas outside of work.
The Company
Most days there was a buzz in the office as people were constantly busy and on the phones.
I received excellent training which was well structured to fit in with the job.
I travelled on a number of occasions to attend training sessions which Hays provided, in addition to other random training sessions throughout the year and regular conference calls and meetings.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I have been kept on part time at Hays for my final year at University and have been offered a full time job for when I graduate.
The Culture
There was one other placement student who I already knew so already saw them outside of work.
I stayed at home during my placement year but socialising was a reasonable price.
I worked in Newcastle so nightlife was great.
Not really any opportunities for outside of work other than a few charity events that consultants organised themselves.
