    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall I enjoyed it but as with any job I had good and bad days.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked in a team of 8 people and they were all very lovely and keen to answer any questions and give me guidance and tips for the future.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My Manager didnt not treat me as a typical 'intern' and I was pleased about that. He always had time for me and treated me with respect. At some point he was away for 2 weeks but still kept in touch via email to ensure I had work to do

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning of the internship I found myself trying to pretend to look like I had work to do but as time went on I was given more responsibilities which I could do at my own pace. I had no tight deadlines to meet so I would have prefered to have been given more work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I would have loved to be given more responsibilities but being only there for 10 weeks there is only so much responsibility I could be given.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The networking across Santander was for me the best part of my internship. Despite working in Risk I had the opportunity to visit other business lines within santander and gain an overview of the bank. I was given alot of advice in terms of making decisions about what direction to take my career. Santander is a very relaxed bank (I guess this comes from it being a spanish bank) and most people are really friendly and down to earth.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in Risk which is generally quite compared to trading floors but everyone had time for some banter.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I did not have a time table for the duration of my internship and at the begining it took forever for my IT log in details to be made available to me.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The signs seem positive and its very highly likely that I will be offered a graduate role with Santander.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes we were a good bunch of interns always up for a drink or two

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I interned in London so I dont need to elaborate anymore. A london allowance would have been nice.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Many people in my department were quite older than me so a nightlife was non existent

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No not really but for the graduates and permanent employees yes.

    3/5
