The Role
Very much enjoyed my internship. The team were excellent and made feel welcome at all times. I had lot of work to do which meant there was a steep learning curve. I found the work I was doing very interesting.
Team made me feel very welcome at all times. They gave me lots of responsibilities which was a positive. I felt that they appreciated my presence in the office and often delegated important client-facing tasks to me.
Manager was often too busy to give me any advice which was a shame. however, this was understandable given his position. I got some guidance and support from other team members.
There was a perfect balance, although I'd say I was more busy than somewhere in the middle. I got involved in live deals with my team which was exciting. I also got some time to myself to carry out my own research.
It's a meritocracy. You get more responsibility as you produce good work for your team members. This was certainly how I viewed it. Team members wanted me to learn lots.
It will definitely help me in my future career as well as in my degree studies. The presentation, excel and research skills I gained will be very important for me going forward.
The Company
buzzing atmosphere in the office. Loved every moment of it. Team were friendly and would often make jokes. however, when there was a lot of work to do, people would knouckle down and get the work done.
Internship was organised very well by HR. Events ran on time and we were given plenty of notice to prepare for some events. It seems consistent with what most other interns experienced at other banks.
the firm could have invested more in us. The training we received was very basic and vague. We were not given bloomberg access which was a shame. This is an area HR could really develop upon.

I have been offered a job which I am very pleased with. If you work hard, it will show to your team members. However, on the whole, conversion rates are pretty low.
The Culture
Interns went out in the city most nights which was excellent. We always organised events amongst eachother.
London is very expensive but this is to be expected. Accomodation is very expensive as is food. Going from being a student to living in central london is a massive change.
I can't comment on the nightlife because I did not go out in Canary Wharf. We generally went to the city where the nightlife was excellent.
There was a community event organised in a nearby school which was an excellent experience. There was also the opportunity to go Go-Karting, we had a really good time at this event.
