The Role
I was placed in the Energy Business and gained important industry insight and technical skills, but the programme could have been better structured to gain a better knowledge into the finance function.
I worked with a small team and they were all very friendly and professional.
My line manager was often too busy to help me out but my supervisor and peers where usually very willing to help and explain things to me.
In short, I could have been given more to do. I wasn't actually given proper assignments until Week 4 of the internship and at first it was a bit frustrating because I was stuck doing online training and courses to kill time. I was willing to work late as well, but I did so on very few occasions.
Though I wasn't given a great deal of things to do, I was able to shape and add value to the projects I contributed to.
Important skills learnt, especially soft skills like communication, resilience and teamwork.
The Company
Lots of joking around and banter with others in the office, senior members of the office were very approachable and friendly. There were the odd ones out who could be a bit awkward at times.
In general I have no real complaints about organization, but since I was placed in a smaller office (Warwick) I often felt that my supervisors weren't sure what they were supposed to do with me.
Access to extensive training, insight into future opportunities within the organization.

Working from home
I would join the company for many reasons: healthy work-life balance, good starting salary, opportunities worldwide, clear progression through organization. However: I'd prefer to qualify as an ACA rather than a CIMA at a accountancy firm, and would like to work in London (as most finance grads tend to usually). I definitely would like to return to the company at some future point!
The Culture
Very few grads/apprentices/interns in Warwick, and no organized nights out. There were 5 of us who were doing internships and we tried to organize a few things, but most people lived quite far away from the office. Unfortunately if you're not based in Bristol or Derby, the social scene is a bit dull.
Rents in the area are affordable and there a number of pubs in the area which are decently priced.
The few times we did go out were very fun, and the pubs/clubs are fairly safe. Avoid Coventry though!
You need to put a lot of effort into getting involved with other activities outside of work.
