The Role
I enjoyed my placement immensely.
My colleagues treated me like one of the team.
My people manager was fantastic. She checked up on me at least once a week and was able to answer any queries I had and help me with problems.
I was lucky that I had a lot of work to do. At times, I could have too much to do however I was able to raise this with colleagues and they helped me deal with this. As an intern, it was not a problem if I didn't finish every task on my task plan as the length of time I was on the job was short and often it was out of our control if work did not get finished e.g. waiting on information from a client.
I was given responsibility to perform my tasks independently. The team would regularly check if I had any isssues and if any arose I felt comfortable asking any member of the team for clarification. The balance was well struck.
General skills such as time management, interpersonal skills, confidence etc will be very helpful. The job specific skills such as the audit specific knowledge I now posess will not be as useful as I do not study accounting or finance. However if I become an accountant this would be useful.
The Company
A good balance between concentrating on work and having fun was struck in my office. I was never worried about asking questions as everybody was so friendly and welcoming.
It was very well organised.
I feel that PwC invested in me both as an employee and as an individual. This makes you feel more valued.
Company Parties/Events
I would wish to work with PwC again in the future.
The Culture
I was able to meet up with my fellow interns regularly.
Normal prices.
Good nightlife in Southampton.
Good.
