The Role
I really enjoyed this placement and couldn't have asked for anything more. You get treated just like any other employee and the work you do is exactly the same as if you had just started a graduate job.
Everyone I met was extremely friendly. They were always happy to help me and ask me any questions.
I had both a buddy and a people manager who were always there to support me. I was constantly given feedback on how I performed - both strengths as well as development points on how I can improve.
I had work to do throught almost all the internship, which was really great. The work dropped off in the last couple of days but I think that was just an anomaly as almost all other interns were always busy.
The work I was doing was just like any other first year graduate. Each bit of work I did was an important part of the overall job. There was no photocopying whatsoever!
I learned a lot, not only about audit, but also important life skills such as how to work well in a team as well as how to work alongside clients. All of these skills will no doubt be very useful for my final year of university as well as future life.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and easy to get a long with. I went to a great social with my team at the start of my internship where I found it extremely easy to fit in and from then onwards would chat to lots of different people in the office.
PwC take the whole internship process extremely seriously and it is extremely well organised. The infrastructure that was in place was very comprehensive.
We all received training at the beginning and had various development days throughout the internship. It was clear that they invest a lot of time and effort into all the interns which made me feel very valued.

I, along with the vast majority of the interns, have job offers for after University, which is fantastic!
The Culture
All the other interns in my office got a long really well. We would always have lunch together and sometimes go for a drink etc. I didn't spend much time socialising with colleagues outside of the office but I've no doubt that, once a permanent employee, there would be lots of opportunites to do so.
Travel was quite expensive for me, but I lived a 40 minute train journey away from the office. There are many more expensive cities than Manchester,
Manchester has a lot of bars etc. so can't complain too much!
I know that there were lots of activities outside of work for workers at the office, although as an intern I think there weren't a lot of things to get involved in.
