The Role
I really enjoyed my time with PwC, the work was challenging but interesting and I feel that I was able to get really involved, both in a working and social context. People were willing to explain things to me if I was confused and I was given a wide range of work which really helped me understand the process of the position
My colleagues were always very helpful and welcoming, they invited me to lunch every day and were always willing to help me out with any problem I had!
I feel that I was given more help by the people I was working on jobs with than my manager, however if they were any problems I felt comfortable that I could speak to him about these issues.
I had work to do every day and there was always something that I could be involved with, you just have to be proactive and ask! If I had no work to do, which was relatively rarely apart from in the last week when things were winding down, we had an intern challenge which took up quite a lot of time and meant that you were never really bored.
During my internship, I was given more and more responsibility which was positive as shows that I was doing the right thing and could be trusted with more important pieces of work. It was nice to complete some similar pieces of work to show that I really understood what I was doing/
I feel that I have developed skills in being proactive and confident in myself which will be beneficial. The skills that I have learnt will help me more beyond my degree, as it is not really related to finance. However I do feel that I improved my excel and powerpoint skills which is always good!
The Company
When the office was busy, which was most of the time, there was a great atmosphere in the office, lots of laughter and joking. And there was nearly always cake in the office which was obviously brilliant. I felt very comfortable with all of my team which made it easy to have a relaxed relationship with everyone.
It was hugely well organised right from the start with Latimer residential training which was a great place to meet all the interns and get some techinical training so that you felt less out of your depth when starting at the office. I had a buddy and a people manager that I could rely on for help and advice throughout the 6 weeks which was very beneficial. I also felt that the team had really planned for my arrival therefore had lots of interesting work for me, even up until my last day!
A huge amount, this was clear as soon as we started as we were given specific training to help us develop within the firm. Along with this there was a development day which helped with the personal skills that we may not have picked up on in the office, for example networking and dressing to impress! This shows how PwC invests into their people who really make the firm what it is!

I was offered a graduate position within the firm and was even able to request to change office to a more convenient location for me. About 95% of interns get offered a job at PwC so as long as you don't mess up it should be fine!
The Culture
We often went for drinks after events where we had all been together (the other interns) however my office was in a very remote location so there was not much opportunity to socialise around work. However we did go out for lunch and drinks a couple of times in nearby pubs.
I lived in a student accomodation block in nearby Loughborough which was reasonably priced, I did not really socialise around the area as I was living there on my own.
There was none! except when we had days in Birmingham or London which made up for this!
I got involved with lunches out and even went to a little bookclub meeting of some of the team in a local pub which was very nice.
