The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at Santander, the amount that I have learnt in such a short space of time is amazing-before my internship I wouldn't have thought it was possible to fit such a lot in!
My colleagues made me feel really welcome within the office, they were really friendly and they always made sure I knew what I was doing. I felt like they didn't treat me like an intern but like someone who was a full time employee.
My manager was always ready to help me with any questions I had, they had arranged for me to see many different heads through out the entire department and I felt that through this I got a really good overview of the entire structure. My manager helped me a lot with this and I felt that it was invaluable.
There were days when I was really busy if I had to hand in something by a certain time, but I enjoyed this as it gave me something to work towards and kept me on my feet
One of the best things was I wasn't made to feel like an intern, I felt like I was a member of the bank and I was given a lot of responsibility and at times I was even a project coordinator which was good!
I believe that the skills I have will be invaluable to me with my degree and beyond, I have been able to see the intricate structure of a bank and understand how it operates within all the different sectors.
The Company
The atmosphere was really friendly and everyone was very welcoming, we even went to the park a couple of times to play Frisbee!
I believe that the organization was really good, I nearly always had work to do and meetings to go to and I always felt as if I had something to do.
I was able to spend time with numerous heads of department who would all take time out of their day to speak to me and my manager organized all this for me, I believe that the company did invest a great deal in development through this internshipp
I believe that future prospects look good as the HR team have already started discussions about the graduate programme.
The Culture
This is the only thing that I believe could have been improved as I felt that there wasn't enough done by the company to make sure that the interns were brought together and there wasn't emphasis on social life outside the company.
It was in central London but it wasn't too expensive.
The night life was really good and there were quite a few bars nearby.
There wasn't enough emphasis on socialising outside work.
