About You
The people made it enjoyable whilst some of the work itself was quite boring.
As the placement was for three weeks I felt that the work I was given didn't add much value. I understand it from their point of view but as an intern it's frustrating.
I really can't fault the support I received. Everyone was willing to take time out of their day to help and ensure you understood the work and did so in a manner that wasn't at all patronising.
It was beneficial in terms of networking and getting Deloitte's name on my CV. In addition, I did learn a lot about the various stages of an audit the testing conducted during an audit. This isn't really relevant to my degree but the insight I'm sure will help me when interviewing for graduate positions.
The Company
I believe it could have been structured better. It seemed a little like once I got there my department didn't really know what was going on. After a couple of days this had changed and I was assigned to lots of different clients for my time at Deloitte.
The atmosphere itself was really good and the people are great as well as good socials with the other interns.
We received a general induction at the start of the placement which covered the basics (which of course everyone forgets once they leave the room!). Most concepts you pick up once you are actually doing the work.
Employees at all levels of the food chain were willing to sit down and chat through life at Deloitte. As long as you are pro-active and get along with your colleagues, you will be able to gain this knowledge.
I've really learnt a lot about the culture whilst I've been here. As the website says the people are genuinely great. However culture wise I think only so much can be learnt in three weeks.
This placement has really made me re think things. Some of the work I've been doing has been incredibly dull at times and I'm not sure if I could fully commit to a graduate scheme here after university.
Everything Else
We was paid a competitive salary and expenses are reimbursed for any extra costs you occur when compared with your normal commute to work.
Plenty of drinks with other interns as well as opportunity to network with colleagues.
The socials arranged by HR included free food/drink for the interns which was very nice!
I would recommend this placement to a friend. Everyone's experience will be unique and if you are pro active you will make a good impression.
