The Role
The internship was alot more enjoyable than I had initially expected. The atmosphere and culture at LBG is very relaxed, even on the Financial Markets floor.
I did not have access to many of the programmes that I would have required in order to contribute more to my teams work, however I did add to small projects.
The internship could have been more structured, and often my manager and team were too busy with their own jobs to give me attention. I would have liked more support.
I often had alot of free time, as my team struggled to find work for me to do.
At the start, I was not given much responsibility, but as time went by, i was given more and more.
I think i developed my excel skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills which will be usefil in both my studies and future career.
The Company
Everyone seemed to get on with eachother very well, and work together very well.
Projects weren't planned beforehand, therefore when I started, my manager struggled to find me work to do.
There was not training - as interns we had to organise training sessions with Bloomberg and Interns.
Subsidised Canteen
LLoyds is very reputable and thefore future employment prospects are very appealing.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene amongst other interns. We all became good friends who helped eachother throughout rather than competing.
Rather expensive as we worked in St Pauls. Many interns could not afford accomodation in the area so would travel in from outside london.
Athough St Pauls is not very well known for its nightlife, it has soem good bars and is close to other parts of london that are well known for their nightlife.
I would typically leave at 6.30 so I would not get involved in many other activities, but it really depends on how close one lives to the workplace.
