The Role
Having been offered a role with Microsoft in Reading and Xerox I chose Xerox has they seemed to value my services moreā¦and literally the best decision I have made. The full time employees were all lovely offering to buy you teas and coffee, social scene was fantastic better then university in my opinion as you had money to burn! Work wise I was given important and high stressful tasks which including managing a sales team of 6 sales agents. I could not recommend the company enough! Had a fantastic year and met some lifelong friends.
100%! Senior management included me on meetings and always kept me involved in any projects going on and delegated me roles/responsibilities. I was constantly on Webex calls to the US reporting back on various projects and tasks. Overall I felt very valued and that I was making a difference to the company.
My manager in the ECG team was brilliant! He was there if any problems arose even if he was not in office I could also contact me via email or mobile. Before leaving I was also given career advice. He even bought me lunch, teas and coffee on numerous occasions.
Had daily, month-end, quarterly and yearly tasks. I was always busy which I found brilliant and was never bored but rarely exceed my 9-5:30 office hours.
Managing a sales team (with assistance of course) but still a lot.
Without question I have learned more at Xerox than at university. The way to conduct yourself in the office, management style and general business ethics. I think the attitude I have adopted here will transfer well to my degree.
The Company
Always plenty going on! Talking about football to arranging nights out with the team...Jager Bombs were often spoke about.
HR staff and recruitment staff were good fun and always there for you.
On the job training and a whole host of training schemes are in place for placement students. Plus if they like you it is highly likely you can go back.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare from home
Would like to see what else is out there. However would not turn down a job if offered.
The Culture
Best thing about the placement was the students! 60 students living in Uxbridge there was something always going on. WInkers on a Thursday and Electric Lounge on a Friday were common nights out.
Salary could have been more as Uxbridge was expensive.
With Brunel University just around the corner it was pretty good!
Xerox had its own football team which competed in the Thames Valley League competing against companies such as Deloitte, HP, GSK and GE. We won the league when I was there.
