The Role
Having never worked in city firm before, I wan't sure what to expect, but I thoroughly enjoyed my placement.
Everyone was extremely friendly- when first arriving in a department I was introduced to the lawyers and staff there. Nearly everyone made time to make sure I was enjoying myself and had interesting work.
My supervisors always tried to make sure I had work- often passing on work themselves, but other members were good to come round and offer me work on some of their cases.
For a non-qualified lawyer I was pleasantly surprised at the level of responsibility I was given- legal research, writing memos, even some drafting work. (there was some photocopying, but this was at a minimum).
The Company
The environment was often serious and hard-working, but the lawyers in each department got on very well and were quite sociable.
Supervisors and other lawyers always made time if I had any questions or needed help with something. There were also seminars on different practice areas throughout the internship.

The Culture
This was fostered by social events regularly organised by the Graduate Recruitment team, including bowling, a barbecue and a trip to the Brussels office!
As it was in central London, the cost of living was obviously going to be high, but this was not unexpected (the firm's restaurant has great quality food at a very good price though).
