The Role
Overall it was a lot of hard work, but you learn so much, and can gain so much from the experience. It was invaluable experience that looks so good on the CV.
Within your own year group (i.e. the people you join with) I felt like I was family. However with people outside of my year group (older people) it was hard to integrate
Managers change on each job so it's hard to group them all in one category, but overall the support managers gave on the projects was quite good.
Very busy! Especially during 'busy season' (Jan-Mar). Be prepared to work hard and have to put in extra hours
You have responsibility for your own work, in terms of you have to answer any questions the manager has on your, however you aren't given much autonomy at an entrants level.
Not only do you get specific skills for the work you are doing but you also learn how to work in a team environment - which is something so desirable and useful in the work place!
The Company
There are lots of socials you can get involved in, from casual days to full on nights out.
Very well - the only place where the organisation faltered was at the leaving part. I had to chase for information about what I should be doing, however when I got it, it was very thorough.
The firm invests a lot into its people. All of the training I required to my job was offered - and more! There were constant updates and opportunities to 'top up' on skills, as well as one-to-one sessions offered with super-users.

As a placement student you get the opportunity to skip most of the application process and go straight to a partner interview as you leave. This gives you the opportunity to get in early, as long as you can impress in your final interview. I'm still waiting to here how I did!
The Culture
Very good social scene in the company. As well as within Deloitte, there is also the Student society for people training to be come chartered accountants, and they put on events.
Travel was a big expense - some of it is reimbursed by the firm but they have quite a strict policy of how many miles you can claim, so quite often can get the short straw. On the other hand, if you live close to clients, that doesn't matter! It can swing both ways really. Birmingham wasn't too expensive of a city.
Birmingham is a University city, so there is quite an active nightlife!
There are sports teams at Deloitte that you can join, and there is also lots going on in Birmingham - its a very diverse city!
