The Role
Very valuable work experience. On the whole, the internship was well organised, and I'm glad that I completed it.
Mostly I would feel valued as a team member. This would, however, sometimes differ a bit from team to team.
I would be given complete instructions on how to complete a given task. Help and coaching was always available, however, you had to take initiative in order to get it.
Very busy, which was a good thing, as it meant that I received lots of different work.
Quite a lot of responsibility for a summer intern. I was given tasks that would usually be given to a first year asociate, and was asked to complete them independently (of course, if you needed assistance, people were happy to help).
As I mostly gained skills within very audit-specific work. I am not sure how applicable these skills will be at uni.
The Company
It was slightly less social that I would have thought. For example, most people seemed to eat lunch alone in front of their laptops (maybe they were just very busy). However, everyone was very nice when you got to talk to them.
Mostly very well-organised. Some events (development days) were a bit long and drawn out, however.
I did feel that the firm invested a lot of resources in us interns (gave us intensive training, put us in a hotel for three days, arranged development days etc.). In addition to that, I also got allocated both a buddy and a people manager, who were there to help me with my personal developement.
Company Parties/Events
Got a job offer from them for a graduate position in the same line of business.
The Culture
Lots of socials with the other interns. However, these were mostly organised amongst ourselves, not by PwC. There was a great network among the summer interns, and I will be keeping in touch with several of the other interns that I met.
Central London, so obviously accommodation and restaurants/bars are not the cheapest!
Great nightlife - it is central London, after all!
I wasn't aware of any. I know some interns who joined sports teams etc., but I think that's it. Or maybe the opportunities were there, but I was just not aware of them.
