The Role
Genuinely a great experience. Enjoyable, insightful and fun! Learnt so much and met great people. Gained a good and thorough understanding of what an employee at each level would be doing day-to-day and what is expected of them.
Felt as if I was part of the team and regularly asked to carry out 'value-add' tasks.
Everybody was ALWAYS willing to help and answer any questions.
Most of the day-to-day things keep you occupied. However, the real time management skill comes into managing everything from day-to-day to project work and networking/organising catch-ups with other employees from other divisions/areas within the division. The second half of the internship gets very busy on a daily basis. You will naturally find yourself working late sometimes. Just see it as revision during exam times. Extra hours required in order to do well for final presentations/exams.
Lots of responsibility given. Particularly within separate group tasks where you were required to lead amongst team members/other interns.
Time management skills developed will most definitely be beneficial for my final year at university. As well as this, prioritising and presentation (PowerPoint) skills have been developed. Attention to detail too (VERY IMPORTANT IN THE WORK PLACE).
The Company
Great team members and general atmosphere across the floor. Fun, enthusiastic and enjoyable.
Good layout. Good balance of socials and work/life balance.
We had to do a CTW (Community Team Works) day where we helped clean a riverbank. As well as this, we regularly had team sports such as football, rounders, etc.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Still waiting to hear (fingers crossed).
The Culture
Bowling and movie nights were good fun. Everybody got more busy towards the latter part of the internship. However, there was a fair amount of mixing and getting to know other interns in different divisions. Although, this is best approached as proactively as possible, i.e. find the opportunities rather than waiting for the chance.
London, lived here all my life so pretty used to it.
Had a few bars outside.
Many opportunities. Sports, etc.
