About You
I looked forward to the next day as each day's itinerary was very different and filled with many opportunities to meet people and participate in workshops and presentations. I could see myself grow and improve as the week progressed.
I was treated like an equal and part of the team during work shadowing and was surprised to have met with senior members in the firm.
There was plenty of guidance throughout, but it is up to the individual to be independent and take advantage of the many opportunities available.
The 2 things I found most valuable were work shadowing in your divisional preferences and getting to know and understand how a leading investment bank operates.
The Company
It was very well structured with varying combinations of events including panels, trading games, presentations and an innovation forum. There was a dinner in the City at the end of the week, which was a great send off.
It was very positive, we had a very friendly talented class and we were warmly welcomed by all members of the firm. HR were always there if you had any questions.
It was mainly tailored as an Insight and learning experience for those in first year. Therefore, it was hard to fit in personal training and work experience as well, but the firm was able to do this in our 2 divisional preferences.
The majority of the time was spent talking to analysts and interns about their experiences and what a full time role would be like. It was good given the time available.
We met many representatives of the firm and were informed of the company culture and ethos on diversifying the workforce, as well as promoting independent thinking and lessening subconscious bias.
This was their key aim to expose us, as much as possible, to the different divisions and opportunities available so we could make an informed decision on our career path. Talking to the analysts described the type of work they were doing and what skill sets were required. It helped me decide my divisional preference.
Everything Else
We had a expenses form emailed to us at the end of the week.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking.
They varied over meals, panels & speed networking with many analysts and interns in all divisions.
Yes what interested me most was BAML's dedication to promoting the arts. Others were involved with volunteer work and an innovation week.
Yes, I would recommend Insight to friends because I, myself, had applied on receiving very positive feedback from friends who had attended Insight in previous years.
