The Role
First few weeks were a bit of pain, due to a lot of reading and weighting for my laptop to turn up. Apart from that it was very enjoyable and my team was very supportive. Was also good fun as in our intern teams we were tasked to raise as much money as possible for charity, which provided a break from the many excel sheets.
Many colleagues went on holiday for several weeks during my internship and left me to get on with several pieces of work,
Regular meetings with line manager (every week), where he provided feedback on my work. During first weeks my supervisor showed me through the intranet site and how to use the online training.
Most days I had the right amount of work and I didn't feel overloaded. However there were a few too many days when I didn't have much work to do.
I was left to get on with several pieces of work, none of which were super important but needed doing none the less. I did join a lot of conference calls and was required to talk for 10 mins (presentations etc) on several occasions..
My excel skills developed massively over the 10 weeks, not so important for my degree, but will be very useful when I go back to work. I also became more confident and more of a team player, which will undoubtedly be of use in the future.
The Company
Talkative but hardworking, very cheerful place to be.
Could be better, laptop was supposed to be ready from day 1.
Several webinars, which told us how to try and make the most out of our internships. I went on an insight day to another area of the business and they were very helpful and explained to me what they do, will be useful when considering prospects in the future.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I was lucky enough to get offered a position on the grad scheme. Which I will likely take on as I did enjoy my time very much.
The Culture
Went out many times with colleagues and fellow interns, both were very enjoyable.
I lived with family so avoided most living costs. Pubs, bars etc aren't particularly cheap.
Loads of bars and pubs to go to, never did the same thing twice.
I played football with some colleagues after work. Apart from that I don't recall much else
