The Role
Really good, everyone was super friendly and the environment was very relaxed.
I got a lot of feedback from the people using the things I worked on, letting me know what they liked or disliked and trusting me to improve things which they rely on on a daily basis.
The support i received was fantastic, there were always plenty of people happy to lend a hand.
Some days I felt I had a bit much to do, especially when I started tasks unfamiliar to me; new languages etc.
Initially I was tasked with only small changes which were supervised closely by my manager but after the first couple of weeks I was given a lot more freedom to get on with the tasks assigned.
Lots of effort was put into making sure I felt that I was learning and teaching me useful software skills
The Company
Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was productive without being boring. There were plenty of things to keep people smiling, including pizza.
Extremely well organized, everything was ready for me when I arrived, and it continued smoothly from there.
I felt that while there were a lot of things that I had to learn to do what I was given, it was my responsibility to learn them independently and just get on with it.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Excellent place to work, really enjoyed my time here.
The Culture
I wasn't staying in the company accommodation and so only met the other students at work. We all got on really well though and went out to dinner as a group a few times.
Not especially cheap, but no worse than anywhere else I've been
The Fringe festival was on at the same time as my placement and a lot of those events are free which was excellent
There was the option to do pretty much anything you can think of.
