The Role
The role involved a variety of tasks and responsibilities and i was always encouraged to get involved with initiatives by my line manager and colleagues. Everyday i was part of something interesting and worthwhile.
I was welcomed, supported and encouraged by all of my colleagues from day one. There was always someone around to talk to and people were more than happy to help. I definitely felt like a valued member of the team.
From day one i was given guidance and support from my line manager and my team. My line manager always made time to meet with me and find out how i was doing.
At times i was very busy, but that added to the fun of the role, i never had a chance to get bored and i was always involved in a variety of tasks.
I was given lots of responsibility while on placement and was given opportunities that were challenging and exciting to be a part of.
The skills i learnt on placement help me everyday at university from time management and team work to prioritizing and facilitation.
The Company
Friendly and open. You could always walk around and go and talk to people and find out what they were up to and everyone talked and had a laugh while doing their work.
There was a programme set up for all of the interns and their line managers. The interns and the managers each had a monthly meeting with HR to give feedback on the programme and ask questions. All of the interns had a dedicated support network from day one from their team, line manager, buddy and HR representative.
The company invested a huge amount of time and money in me to ensure i developed key skills such as presentation skills and facilitation.
I am definitely drawn to working there again as i had such a good experience, but for now i am concentrating on my studies.
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst the placement students and the teams within the organisation. Always being invited to something.
The cost of living and socialising was average.
It was good, lots of shops, bars and clubs.
Lots of opportunity to get involved in activities outside of work, such as fundraising and volunteering.
