The Role
Thought it was fantastic! Great atmosphere, great people, interesting project.
Team was very approachable, and my voice was heard for design decisions
Very easy to seek answers when stuck, had weekly 1:1 meetings to make sure things were progressing ok. My manager was quite busy for a good amount of the time, but that's sort of to be expected, and I was able to get on with my own work without any issues.
Most of the time I had plenty to do, only maybe one or two days out of the entire 10 week period did I feel lost for stuff to do
Was given a side project to work on, but working with one team member to design it, and I wrote all the code personally. Great sense of project ownership, however I did not work on the production code the rest of the team was using. This suited me fine, though!
Learnt a lot, especially about writing code for use by others, and agile methodologies.
The Company
Everyone was very easy going and it wasn't full suits and ties. Casual Fridays!
Some minor issues getting set up initially, but after that I had no problems. I knew what I was working on a few weeks before I started.
Plenty of sessions covering a variety of subjects to attend, and free access to the intranet Training Centre which had loads of information on a myriad of stuff.
Company Parties/Events
Don't know for sure yet, but it sounds like I'm on track for a grad position!
The Culture
Plenty of intern events, and we went out under our own steam a few times.
I live in glasgow anyway, and I find the prices pretty reasonable.
Glasgow is great, however I couldn't personally comment as I prefer to stay inside. ;D
Reasonable number of after work events we could go to.
