The Role
BP have a fantastic internship programme, they really take the time to settle you in and give you a worthwhile project that will challenge you but allow you the time to get involved with extra activities within the company and externally with the other interns
I was given a project that was relavent to everyone's work and I had to communicate with them all to complete it. We also regulary had lunch and had get togethers and we would catch up with each other every day
Weekly reviews with my supervisor to check progress and to discuss things I was needing help/advice with. Also was assigned a mentor who i could meet anytime to chat or ask for advice.
Good balance, always had something to work on but was never so hectic I felt too much pressure. Some days were obviously busier longer than others but that is to be expected.
I was given a fairly significant project which is being presented in front of 6 other major O&G comanies so I think I was given a lot of responsibility. Also on a internal committee and had students into shadow me.
Technical and prfessional skills were greatly developed.
The Company
As it was summer sometimes it was quiet with people on vacation etc but when everyone was in the atmosphere was great, everyone was very kind and friendly
I knew exactly what was expected of me and I knew what my deadlines were
Our first day was an induction when we got to speak to people from all areas of the company and listened to a lot of presentations. We also hd plenty opportunities to practice presenting and attanded a presentation skills lab.

The Culture
15 of us lived in student halls together which has been great fun. We are all really close friends now and go out at the weekend and week nights together.
Around London has been pricey but that was to be expected. We found plently pleaces that we could get student deals etc and also BP paid us a London allowance so it wasn't that bad.
We live 10 mins on the train from Richmond and 15 mins from Clapham so it was realy easy to go out there. We only went out in the centre of London a few times though, but when we did it was great - we did the circle line pub crawl.
Two of the interns were on the social committee and organised charity events and days/nights out which was great fun. We did a charity rounders event, went to Thorpe Park and had numerous nights out
