About You
It was extremely useful and everyone involved was friendly and helpful.
Given that the placement only lasted one week, there is a limit to how fully you can become integrated into such a large company. However, I felt that everyone was very welcoming.
Everyone, be that people you met from different divisions going about their work or HR, did what they could to answer any questions you may have and help make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
This was an extremely informative and insightful week and I have picked up much information and learnt many skills.
The Company
At times there was a bit of waiting around in between talks or activities however this is to be expected given that we were operating between two offices and there was a large number of interns. However, in terms of the talks we were given when and the activities we did, it was seamless.
A very good balance of hard work, informative sessions, networking and fun.
We were given so many opportunities to learn and take part in interactive skills sessions or ask questions, it couldn't be faulted.
We heard from employees across all divisions about their day to day experiences within the company. This was very useful and everyone tried their best to give an insight into their role.
There was a clear culture of one team working together and the importance of people within the company was evident.
Given that we had contact with all divisions through panel discussions, work shadowing and case studies, I was able to decide which division I would be most interested in and where I would excel most. I now have a clearer vision of banking, how the different divisions fit with one another and what I want to do in future.
Everything Else
All travel expenses were paid and lunch and breakfast were provided. Dinner on the penultimate night was excellent and paid for too.
We had networking opportunities everyday and this was something that we were encouraged to do. I have made useful contacts with employees from these events.
The opportunities were very good, employees were very socially able and willing to chat. On the penultimate night we had a networking dinner which was very well organised, with employees from divisions we had expressed preferences in rotating around the tables after every course. This was both thoroughly enjoyable and extremely useful for building up relevant networks.
This was not something that was covered in great detail, however we did find out about employee networks representing woman, BGLT and people with disabilities.
It was an excellent opportunity, extremely insightful and very enjoyable.
