The Role
I enjoyed the fast pace of both VW and the overall industry. The variety of work meant I was never bored and all of the people in the office are friendly and welcoming.
I was made to feel like a permanent and valued member of the team with real responsibilities rather than "just a placement student". My team valued my input as I was a source of infomation and data for colleagues.
Feedback was instant and my manager was approachable at all times. I felt I could approach my line manager with any queries I had and I knew they would do the best they could to help, support or advise me.
Due to the monthly reporting cycle, some parts of the month were very intense and busy and some were a little quieter
I was responsible for producing reports that were sent to Germany, Head of VWG UK and the Brand Director. I had support from my team and line manager whenever I needed it but it was my responsibility to make sure the reports were accurate and on time.
Time management, presenting, improved overall confidence and an improved attention to detail will all be useful in my final year studies
The Company
Very friendly and supportive but due to the smaller nature of the brand there was still a very work focussed attitude. Colleagues were a pleasure to work with
I believe the scheme has been running a number of years and so the HR department are efficient and prepared for any queries and questions you may have. Placement students are seen as valued members of the team and so I would say that VW has successfully integrated all Undergraduate positions into each brand. I felt all of my queries both before and during my placement were adequately answered.
I had the chance to attend various training courses and attended a recruitment workshop that will help me in my future career.

I now have the chance to apply for the Graduate scheme however I am not guaranteed a place as a result of my placement.
The Culture
I worked with a lovely group of fellow placement students and so spent much of my time outside of work socialising with them.
Proximity to London made it a little expensive but sensible spending usually left me with a little money leftover at the end of each month.
Plenty of bars and beautiful small pubs if you are willing to travel a little outside Milton Keynes itself.
I believe there was a small football team for those interested.
