The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Delcam, would recommend it to anyone interested in software.
I felt quite valued by my colleagues, who were very helpful and supportive.
Excellent supervisor.
Occasionally I had too little to do just after submitting changes.
I was responsible for my own work, with help from my supervisor.
I greatly developed my C++ programming and software engineering skills, and have gained valuable experience in the field. Since I intend to pursue a career in this area, these skills are invaluable.
The Company
Very good atmosphere, friendly and relaxed, but not too casual.
Very well organized. Apart from some people taking time off during training for their graduation ceremonies, everything went very smoothly throughout my placement.
The first week and a half was dedicated to a training course in C++ programming, both general and specifically with regard to the companies software. This course was well run and really helped to improve my skills. Then throughout my placement my supervisor helped me to learn and grow my skillset.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a full time job, starting after my final year at university.
The Culture
The company has a social fund and there were various opportunities for social activities while I was there.
