The Role
The placement was both challenging and enjoyable.
I felt like a normal full time employee. The team and all colleagues were great!
Support was available almost immediately when required.
The balance of the work was good. Some days I was significantly busier than others but I was never bored. There was also enough work to do.
The responsibility that I was given was the same as a full time engineer.
There's been a definite, measurable change in the skill set and confidence since the start of the year.
The Company
Serious enough to be engaged in work without any disturbances but there always was banter amongst the colleagues. Never a dull day.
We had a structured 'Student Development Programme' for the placement year.
Personal development was one of the main objectives of the 'Student Development Programme'
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Future employment prospects are good, providing there are enough openings.
The Culture
The placement students were friendly and outgoing.
Quite cheap but not the cheapest.
Nothing special locally but Newcastle and Durham are just down the road.
Enough things to do if you look for them.
